There are many white and black small birds, some of which are difficult to tell apart.
This article will show a list of 15 white and black small birds. We will have pictures to help identify them along with other information such as measurements, where they are native to, the habitats and diets.
Male Black & White Warbler
The black & white warbler has striking blacking strips over the face and upperparts, and black spots on the under tail as seen in the above picture. They have two white wide wing bars and white underparts. Their tail is quite short but they have long wings for a small bird.

Male Blackpoll Warbler
A similar warbler to the black & white, however as you can see from the picture above, this warbler has a black cap and white cheeks with a black mustache. The black stripes are not as prominent and have black streaking on their flanks and orange legs which stand out against their plumage colour.

Male Carolina Chickadee
This is one of the smallest small birds in this article. They have a black cap and bib, white cheeks and breast. The upper parts and wings are a light grey colour.

Male Black Capped Chickadee
The male black capped Chickadee as shown in the above picture is very similar to the previous Carolina Chickadee with the same black cap, white cheeks and white breast, however they have a wider black bib, and the have less white on their breast and more of a buff colour underneath, the upper aspects are still a light grey. They are also a bigger bird.

Male Mountain Chickadee
The last of the Chickadees we will look at in this article is the Mountain Chickadee, These birds have a white stripe over the eyes the other Chickadee don’t have. They are also quite a compact looking little bird as seen above.

White Breasted Nuthatch
An unusual shaped bird as shown in the above picture, the male white breasted nuthatch has a black cap white face, throat, breast and underbelly. The upperparts are blue-grey, with black and white tipped tail feathers.

Male Black throated gray warbler
Another warbler is the male black throated gray as seen above they have a black and white striped face, with a black cap, black stripe on the flanks and underbelly. They have a distinct yellow stripe in front of their eyes.

Male Pied Wagtail
The male pied wagtail is another small white and black small bird, although reading the measurements you would think this is a larger bird because of its length, however as you can see from the above picture they have a long tail, so in actual fact they are not much bigger than a Great tit. They have a black cap and bib and throat, white face and belly and white wing bars. Also as its name suggests they wag their tails as they walk along.

Male Long tailed Tit
This sweet little bird has a tail bigger than his body. He has a white stripe on his head, white face with wide black eye stripes, black and white tail. Its belly is pinkish in colour.

Male Coal Tit
The male Coal Tit as seen in the above picture is a small bird which can be seen at bird feeders. It is one of those birds that can be tricky to identify. I have found that I look for the white stripe on the back of its head. This then rules out the two tit you will see below. Marsh Tit
The Male Marsh Tit is another white and black small bird. It is very similar to the Coal Tit we have just seen and the Willow Tit we will see next. Apparently it is so similar to the Willow Tit that they used to think that they were the same species.
One feature they both share is the black cap, now the Marsh Tit cap is glossier that the Willow Tits, they have a smaller bib and pain coloured wings as you can see in the picture above.

Willow Tit
Here we have the male willow Tit, as similar size to the Marsh Tit but you can see that his black cap is more sooty looking compared to the Marsh Tit, and a slightly bigger black bib. Their wings also have a paler panel on them, and their underbelly has a darker buff colour.

Male Blackcap warbler
This attractive warbler is one of the large small birds in this article. As its name suggests it has a black cap. The throat,breast and underbelly are a whitish grey, and an olive, grey back, tail and wings.
